Not a lot of interest Big lab mix usually shreds everything. I think he just didn't like the material he carried it around for a few days and drops it on the wood floors BAM! which is entirely annoying. He doesn't seem to think its a chew toy.
My dogs LOVE these! I have two labs a 65 lb 1.5 year old male who is a heavy chewer and a 60 lb 3 year old female who just likes to hold things in her mouth. We originally had one bone for the heavy chewer and had to buy another bone when we adopted the second dog because she loved carrying it so much. My dogs get the bones while in their crates and carry them around whenever out of their crates so they are heavily used. A regular nylabone lasted our chewer only a few months replaced it with this beef bone and 4 months later it's chewed on but barely worn away.
A great lasting product that occupies our dog for hours Nylabone Big Chew Beef Bone is by far the best chew toy that we have tried primarily because it lasts for months and it occupies our dog without our involvement. We have previously bought the Nylabone Wishbone and it took our 50# dog less than a month to sharpen it to the point where I no longer felt safe giving it to him. Due to the size and the shape of this product it provides more chewing material that so far has lasted for 3 months. At the rate that our dog is going we should be able to get at least another 5 months out of the bone. The other benefit of this toy is that it occupies our dog and keeps him from bugging us when we are tired and don't have the energy to play with him. With the exception of stuffed Kong all of the other toys he has require our involvement because we need to either play tug or throw them to him in a game of fetch. The only negative of this chew is that it leaves small plastic crumbs in places where our dog chewed the bone. Although it is harder to break off large pieces of plastic from it occasionally our dog ends up swallowing what he manages to scrape off the bone. According to the manufacturer pieces the size of a grain of rice or smaller should not pose any problems. And so far most of the pieces that I noticed were much smaller than that.
Toughest Ever Dog Bone!!! Finally something he doesnt destroy in a half hour. My rottie demos every chew toy I get for him.
Caution with larger dogs Our 1 year old APBT loves this thing he truly does and we also got the lower level black rubber version which he has damn near destroyed completely after a few months. But this Nylabone does pose a threat because they can actually chew off little jagged sections of the Nylon/plastic material and then swallow it. Now anyone who gives dogs a bone they want to knaw and eat it it's just natural.Imagine swallowing something like that..they sit and hack and yack their brains out trying to get it down their throat or out. After the 4th time I ended up just throwing the bone out. Got sick of watching my male hacking his brains out trying to clear the piece. So even though it's really nearly indestructible it's also not very safe for very large powerful dogs. I've had dogs for over 30 years and it's nearly impossible to find something that's totally safe and indestructible for powerful large dogs. I guess we'll have to keep searching.
Loveit! My son's 2yr old pit bull loves this bone and has not destroyed it yet 1 month It is still in good condition.
Don't buy!
Easily destroyed We have a 52 lbs Boxer who had done serious damage to this on the same night he recieved it. 2 days later with other bones/toys to play with the bone was nearly unsafe to continue to give him. Most likely will be contacting Nylabone regarding this purchase.
two dogs that now have a single toy they haven't destroyed This was a Christmas to my boyfriend's two dogs a siberian husky of about a year and a lab of about 3 years both 6080lb Both are very active and have lots of energy which has destroyed his backyard some of his window sills and lots of toys. You always want to be careful with dogs who can chew endlessly since you don't want any pieces to be ingested etc. This nylabone has been and still is working perfectly for these two. Both enjoy playing with it and it can serve as a keep away toy from the other dog and after there is a winner it can withstand the ensuing gnawing. So after 6 weeks of being their only toy it is still very much intact and has much more life in it AND the dogs still show interest in it. I have heard that this bone is used to calm down the siberian husky before bed he chews on it for 15 minutes and then is ready to pass out for bedtime.
So far so good I bought this with great caution because its made out of plastic and it really made me worry.I've had this about 2 weeks now and my 7 month old Labrador Retriever which can easily chew her self through any wall loves it and uses it all the time! She even brings it to me many times to play fetch but unless someone plans on putting a hole through their wall or injuring someone severely i would not suggest it because this thing is extremely heavy.I am very pleased with this purchase and i would definitely recommend it and buy it again..
