A Great Secret to the KONG Large Biscuit Ball for indifferent chewers Here is my secret to using the KONG Large Biscuit Ball for a dog who is NEITHER particularly foodmotivated NOR interested in chewing. Lay a piece of jerky your dog's favorite inside the ball across the bottom hole. Then take one Iams Large dog biscuit and slide it through the two sides hole openings so that it fits all the way through the ball. These biscuits fit PERFECTLY into the Large biscuit ball and make it interesting and challenging for your dog to extract the treats. Some of my dog's techniques for dealing with this have been nosing it across the room into the wall carrying it onto the bed and dropping it from this height gnawing and slobbering on the ends of the biscuit to shave away at it and using the back bolster of his bed for leverage to work the biscuit out. The difficulty of extracting the biscuit seems to make the jerky treat that much more gratifying. This procedure gave my dog more than ten years' worth of entertainment and turned the biscuit ball into a fabulous puzzle which gave a reasonable challenge to a dog who doesn't particularly care about toys.
Kong biscuit ball dog toy I have a dog who loves to chew up her toys usually within a week of gettig them. I had a ball like this that she has had over a year that she has not been able to tear up.
Great for distractible dogs! Originally we bought this ball thinking we could put small treats inside think minimilk bones and they would be dispensed slowly as our pup played with the ball. We soon realized that there's one giant opening and several other medium openings so the treats fell out instantly so we had to try plan B. We started putting long chews/bones inside.
How big of a treat do you need?? One of the holes for treats is ridiculously large. Need a very large treat for it not to just fall out when the ball rolls over. On a positive note it seems very durable.
love kong toys but this one isn't my favorite First of all I love the kong toys. They are durable they last and my dog enjoys eating the treats inside. We have the regular kong ball w/ the small hole in the end and she loved that so I decided to buy this one too. I bought treats shaped like biscuits to go inside the biscuit ball but found that there was still alot of space/room inside this balleven though it was the smaller size. Our dog had no problems getting the biscuit out which is a problem since she's eating a larger treat and spent no little time playing with the ball to get to the treat. I give it a 3 because I love the kong products but didn't like this particular design.
My bulldog destroyed it in a week We have an English Bulldog and I have been struggling to find something he cannot destroy within a few days. This toy was destroyed within a week. Not to say it is a bad toy it is probably good for a less aggressive chewer.
Rocket's mom doesn't like! The holes are WAY too big in this. NOTHING will stay in it for even a second. It's ok as a plain ball to play with but you can get balls much cheaper.
Perfect!! We have bought other plastic ball before and they are destroyed eaten and swallowed within a matter of minutes. My 3 year old coonhound has had this ball since he was a puppy. It has stayed outside for the past 2 years and my husband even ran over it with the lawn mower. The ball actually stopped the blade!! Even through all that Ace still loves his Kong ball! He chews on it constantly tries to sneak it in the house and even cuddles with it.
Fun but too easy if you don't use the right filler My 3 mo. Siberian Husky LOVES this ball most of the time. Like other reviewers I've had problems with it being way too easy. However he will still play with it long after the treats are gone if I use a strong smelling treat to begin with leaving the smell on the ball. Its very tough and he loves to chew on it and chase it. It bounces pretty well and rolls great. I have found that if you use a beggin' strip that is long enough and soft enough you can get it in and wedged against a side so that it takes a little longer to fall out. Please please please post links to items you've found fit this ball if you know of any. Overall I'd probably buy it again. I just wish I knew what would fit best in it.Thank you!Edit Husky is now 4 mo. old and we've found that the Get Naked Sticks fit great!!! Stick it in one end & out the other and it keeps him busy for much much longer!! These
Eh Not an awful product. Holes were mostly too big to put anything in food comes out too easily. Meaning dog is bored with it after a few seconds. Not bad I suppose but didn't do much for my dog.
