Good value! The medium is a great size for my two Boston terriers.
not quite what I had hoped for I purchased two of the medium antlers as both of my dogs are big chewers and I wanted to give them a natural alternative to nylabones which they love. I had heard many good things about antlers but I guess they just didn't live up to my expectations. First for the price I thought they were a little small. They were about 5 inches long and no more than an inch in diameter at the widest part. I gave one to each of my midsized dogs 34 and 48 lbs and they really enjoyed them. But my border collie mix was able to devour nearly the entire thing in a matter of a few days with only a couple hours time with it each day. This to me is not a long lasting chew and not worth what I paid. Yes my dogs did like them but I will probably not buy them again.
Antlerz
Great chew for my agressive chewing beagle but he didn't take to it at first Got this item for my dog a while ago and it just now has to be replaced. To give an idea of what my dog can go through indestructible toys and things with reinforced stitching can only last a matter of minutes. Nylabone toys which are supposed to curb chewing by being too difficult to get through can pose a challenge and last for a little while. But this toy has lasted quite a while as well.Just a heads up at first my dog wasn't so interested in it the first few days we gave it to him. Then he took to chewing it and it became one of his favorite toys chewing it down to a little nub. This is a fairly cheap toy and it was able to ship overseas to my APO address without a problem. I'd highly recommend this product and intend to buy a third and more of these once this one wears out.
Small size but lasts forever! I was a little mad when I recieved the package because I imagined it to be much bigger. It was indeed 6 inches as stated so really I should have just looked at a ruler first but to my surprise my pit bull has been gnawing at the thing all week and NOT SO MUCH AS A DENT. We've given him bully sticks and large bones before but he kills everything in a day unless we're conscientious about taking it away from him to make it last. Not the case with this antler. I have a feeling it will last monthsand it's actually made our puppy a lot more mellow. He chews on it sometimes and leaves it sometimes but we've noticed when he gets bored he goes straight for it. No more whining at us for more attention trust me he gets plenty but its never enough!.
Reasons I Buy Antlerz for my Dogs These Antlerz are 100% natural rich in calcium and phosphorus odorless and unlike processed bones they don't chip or splinter. The dogs slowly grind them down. My dogs get their teeth checked every 6 months and they have had no damage to their teeth. They contain no petrochemicals or artificial flavors. They last much longer than chews made from plastic bone compacted starch or animal parts from a slaughter house which all stink and gross me out such as ears hooves and bully sticks! So far the last two have lasted five and a half months so I think they are an excellent value as compared to other chews.I've read the reviews complaining about the size. The difference in the sizes are in the diameter. They are all 4 6 inches long. I ordered the small the first time and they didn't last long enough. The second and third time I bought the medium which are 1.5 to 2.5 inches around. You can't expect a uniform size and shape when you are dealing with a natural product.
Misleading size The actual antler was much smaller and quite a bid simpler looking than the picture. I was disappointed. For its size 12 dollars is too much.
Not as pictured Although my dog loves this it doesn't look like the picture. The pieces we got were just straight not like how it looks in the picture. My dog chewed it down to a 2 piece in a few days and then I had to throw it away because I was afraid she would try to swallow it. There are other kinds of antlers out there that have better shapes so it is more interesting for your dog to hold and chew it. Will not be buying this particular one again.
Didn't last long I have a 15lb Yorkie mix who loves to chew on bones socks etc and usually finishes things in no time. I was hoping deer antlers would last him a long time. This was my first time buying a deer antler. He loved it. However the Medium was pretty small I'd say about 4 inches and he still devoured it in under 30 minutes. For that kind of money I'm better off trying a different snack that would last longer.
Perfect size for teething Maltese/Yorkie mix aka Morkie I got the small antler for my 4lb 4 month old morkie who is teething. So far he likes it and its the perfect size for him. It stays in his crate and he plays with it when he's in there. I initially thought he wasn't playing with it at all until I discovered that the bumping and scratching sounds coming from his crate weren't from him rearranging his bedding but from him trying to bury what he thinks is a bone. It's really cute.Its not a whole antler its a piece of one and the piece has a few bumps but is mostly smooth and straight. It's like a really hard bone that ants won't be attracted to.So far we haven't had any problems with him chewing things but we always watch him when he's out of his crate and he has lots of chew toys including treat dispensers to keep him occupied. We also do obedience training 15 mins in the morn and 15 mins in the eve as well as agility training to keep him occupied and to distract from negative behaviors and to help him spend his energy. I think all of these things impact on his need to chew.I've uploaded a pic to show him with the antler.
