  • Kong Extreme Flyer could be more extreme Being a Kong Extreme product I had high hopes for this flying disk frisbeelike toy. They are quite flexible and fly pretty well. Until there is a cut in the middle part which soon becomes a tear. Then it does not fly very well anymore. So it goes into the trash. It is soft enough that I don't worry about my dog catching it. A hard plastic Frisbee could hurt but not this one. The middle could be thicker and more tear resistant I feel. That would give it better flying characteristics too. We are on his third flyer in the last 6 months and I have 2 more backups. I wish they were lower priced given the failure rate.
Stick with the red flyer I bought this super durable flyer to replace the red Kong flyer my dog had after it began to show some wear. We loved the red flyer and would still give it a 5 star rating but thought this would be a better fit since its more durable. It flies great but much to my disappointment this flyer essentially shredded within a month of supervised use 12 a week for 30 minutes. The red one we planned to replace however still works like a charm. To be clear this is an interactive toymy dog is never allowed to simply chew her flyers but instead they are used for the sole purpose of playing Frisbee. Bottom line stick with the red flyer.
Softer than regular kong flyer not for dogs who destroy toys I purchased this because my 70lb dog likes to catch frisbees out of the air occasionally they can be traveling quite fast and I worry about them injuring his mouth. This frisbee is lighter and floppier than the original Kong Flyer which makes it seem safer. That said because of its floppiness and weight it does not fly quite as straight as the original and can get easily thrown off course by a gust of wind. It also requires more skill to throw straight. It certainly doesn't seem as durable as other rubber frisbees on the market but my dog doesn't attempt to shred these so it is not a problem for us. My guess is that this would not last long with dogs who use it to play tugofwar or those who want to chew through it. I would also guess that once a small tear is introduced it would seriously compromise its ability to fly.
Great toy when used properly My dog and her best buddy both one year old golden retrievers love this toy. It's great for the dog park and for tugging. Sure it eventually rips after extended tugging usually a few weeks but who could expect otherwise when you get two and sometimes three 70 pound dogs vigorously pulling on it. It's very easy to throw and easy for the dog to catch. It's got the flex and stretch of a rubber inner tube so it's soft if they miss and it hits them in the face or teeth it doesn't hurt and discourage them from trying to catch it. You do have to pay attention because once it's ripped you don't want them pulling off small pieces and swallowing them. However even after it's ripped if the remaining part is large enough it's still playable. It's not a toy I would leave with a dog to sit and chew on it's for active supervised play. A few days ago after about a third or so of the disk had been ripped off and safely discarded the disk still flew amazingly well. I order these toys in multiples and bring them to the dog park that I operate. At Amazon's price it's a bargain for the amount of play they get.I don't know what the people who gave negative reviews are expecting. This is not a chew toy that you just leave with your dog it's for active play with a person participating for its intended purpose it's great.
Kong Extreme . . . not really . . . I have a 10 month old boxer/shepherd mix I should call 'jaws'. I bought him the regular red kong flyer and it took him a month or longer to chew a hole in the middle. It looks like a donut but still flies. I know the black kong series is for serious chewers and thought the Kong Extreme flyer black would be more durable. It is not. He ripped a piece off the side in less than 5 minutes. The material is much flimsier than the regular red Kong Flyer. I would NOT recommend this toy for a dog who chews.
NOTHING EXTREME ABOUT IT I have a 1 year and 2 months old Bull Terrier the first flyer I bought was the
Disappointment! I LOVE Kong Extreme Chew toys for my little pitbull since he's an agressive chewer & they are usually the only toys that last with him. This product sadly was a disappointment & no where as durable as the other products.
Comet's Favorite Toy! I purchased this frisbee for our dog hoping he could learn to catch one out of the air. Turns out not only does he love to chase and catch it but he also enjoys using it as a general chew toy. Comet doesn't have an insanely strong jaw like some dogs he's a poodle/golden retriever/lab mix so I can't fully attest to its durability but it has had no problem holding up for him.
Extremely poor! This is simple! It doesn't fly. I sent it back. The red Kong flyer is great! I purchased 8 of them. My dog Wallace has become a star. Great family fun. Keeps Wallace fit too.
best ever My labrador tugs endlessly on this with his 165pound mastiff mix buddy and it's never shown any sign of tearing or teeth marks. Great product.
